Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Photography,
  • ACE Certified Personal Trainer
  • Certified Rock Steady Boxing Coach

Interests/Specialties: photography, boxing, working within different planes of movement, outdoors

Brandon graduated from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in photography. He then moved to Juneau where he worked as a whale boat captain and photographer before coming to JAMHI. At JAMHI Brandon worked as a behavioral health associate and a supportive living specialist until the opportunity of being a wellness coach opened up. He became an ACE certified personal trainer, a certified rock steady boxing coach and earned a pain management selfcare certification.

Brandon encourages his clients to break out of 2-dimensional movement such as walking or running and into other planes of motion. Brandon says that people often get stuck in the sagittal plane of motion because that is what most people are trained in. Doing frontal movements such as jumping jacks or transverse rotational movements such as hula hooping can help with fall prevention, build confidence, and aide in the development of proprioception, or the awareness of one’s body position and movement.  Brandon teaches boxing to help clients with motor skills rather than with the goal of helping people win fights.  Boxing also helps develop brain activity and Brandon says that he can see the results pretty quickly.

Brandon currently works with clients one to one, leads a wellness Wednesday group for Forget me not Manor clients and has led an outdoor photography group. Brandon is mellow and is a good listener. He is authentic with clients and says that his work helps him to be a better version of himself.
