 Educational Background

  • Masters of Education in School Counseling, Northern Arizona University
  • Additional Coursework in Counseling, University of Alaska Fairbanks

Kristin graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School (now called Juneau-Douglas Yadaa.at Kalé High School) in 2008. From there, she went on to study at Northern Arizona University. She completed four years of swimming for NAU as a Division I NCAA Athlete. In 2012, she graduated with honors and received her BA in Psychology and Sociology. She returned to Juneau briefly in 2013 before returning to Flagstaff, AZ to complete her M.Ed in School Counseling. Kristin worked as a High School Counselor in Scottsdale, AZ for two years. Her experience working in a school setting gave her valuable exposure to the changing dynamics experienced between adolescents and their families. During this time, she returned to Juneau each summer to work seasonally.

Kristin also spent several years working for a non-profit in Scottsdale called NorthBridge. She tutored and counseled college age students that had significant learning challenges. She helped them set goals and stay on task through one-on-one sessions that targeted their specific learning needs. She enjoyed meeting the clients where they were and loved watching them develop their own solutions to overcome difficult tasks.

In 2022, Kristin completed an additional semester of coursework through University of Alaska Fairbanks. Upon completion of the semester, she began working in the Emergency Department at Bartlett Regional Hospital doing emergency psychiatric assessments. Her experience at BRH gave her exposure to a wide variety of mental illness and acuity. She became accustomed to asking the most difficult questions and finding the most appropriate level of care for her patients. She is excited to join the JAHMI family as she continues to develop her career and work towards licensure as an LPC.

Kristin also has a unique and deeply personal passion for ensuring those with all kinds of disabilities are heardseen and able to experience the same quality of life that their peers are offered. She believes this is a basic human right and loves to develop creative solutions to specific needs.

Kristin enjoys swimming, skiing, and spending time with her family. She grew up roaming the local landscape with her three brothers and is honored to be raising her daughter in Juneau surrounded by the same beauty and community she grew to love as a child.
